What is the Black Equity Collective?The Black Equity Collective is a network of funders and nonprofit leaders committed to investing in the long-term sustainability of Black-led organizations in Southern California. Through programming for BLOs focused on developing organizational power and efforts with funders to align their institutional practices to the Principles for Black Equity, the BEC transforms the relationship between philanthropy and Black-led organizations by operationalizing equity.

Is the BEC a nonprofit organization?Southern California Grantmakers fiscally sponsor BEC. All donations are processed through SCG and are tax-deductible per IRS guidelines.

How do I join the BEC?We recognize the significant interest in joining the Black Equity Collective and are committed to a thoughtful and inclusive process for expanding our network. Each year, our team carefully evaluates our capacity to welcome new member organizations. This assessment ensures we can provide meaningful support and engagement to all members. Annually, we place up to 50 organizations on a waitlist. These organizations are then notified when our membership application process opens. To be added to our waitlist, please reach out to our Network Engagement team. As our waitlist for 2024 is currently closed, we invite you to contact us for consideration for membership in 2025. For additional information or to join the waitlist, please email our Network Engagement team at Miaya@blackequitycollective.org. We look forward to connecting with you and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
